Rebecca Kowalski BA Modern Languages, FPFS, Cert ESG has worked in the Scottish IFA industry for over 25 years. Much of this was as a Technical Paraplanner, a role in which she achieved three Paraplanner of the Year awards, in 2008, 2014 and 2016, for the CISI, the PFS and the Professional Adviser Awards respectively. Thereafter, Rebecca moved into a compliance and management role, delivering T & C training and supervision to financial advisers, as well as mentoring less experienced Paraplanners. Inspired by her climate activist daughter, Rebecca has developed a huge interest in sustainable investing, because in her own words “it has, after all these years, turned financial services from a job into a vocation. When you care passionately about something, you have to make sure you do it to the very best of your ability.” As a result, after successfully building a sustainable investment service for her former employer, Rebecca decided to launch her own sustainable investment support service -Overstory Finance. The company aims to help IFAs embrace sustainable investing and remove any hurdles that might prevent them from doing so. Overstory also delivers sustainable finance advocacy, training, accreditation and education, working with other industry groups, consumers and policy makers.
